Today, Germany ratified the Agreement on a Unified Patent Court (UPC). In accordance with Article 89 of the UPC Agreement, the Court will therefore enter into force on 1 June 2023. Unitary Patents will also be available as of that date.
The ‘Sunrise Period’, during which European patents and applications can be opted of the system before it enters into force, begins 1 March 2023.
